RSSA Payroll Change Dates

Due to administrative concerns and feedback we have gotten from members of the work groups, it has been determined to delay the implementation of the RSSA pay date change until after January 1. The new dates will be as follows:

Current pay schedule for RSSA:

2/08/07 = current pay schedule; 2/22/07 = current pay schedule; 2/29/07 = payroll transition date. This period will include one holiday (President's Day) which may make it easier for employees to make the transition.

District 143 is working with the Company to eliminate any problems this pay conversion may create.

RSSA Pay Week Change

The letter of agreement regarding the implementation of the pay week change agreed to during 2006 negotiations has been signed:

Bethel

Temporary position language has been agreed to and the 89-day and 1-year assignment letter of agreements have been signed. As housing and per diem is being provided for in BET for the temporary workers, the Arctic differential will not be applied.

Lead Pay

The Company has increased the pay for the ANC ramp leads by an additional $1.25 per hour. This will last until July, 2010. No other leads will receive this increase as of this date. This is not a contractual violation -- please refer to Article 23.B., page 27 of the RSSA agreement.

ANC Lead Pay Differential

Here is the latest advisory to District 143 as it relates to pay increases for the RSSA Anchorage Ramp leads only.  The language which allows the Company the unrestricted right to do this is in the agreements and can be found under COPS Article 19.B. (page 77) and RSSA Article 23.B. (page 87).  If you have any questions, please contact General Chair Nan Otto.

Letters of Agreement

Article 19.A. of the COPS agreement and Article 23.A. of the RSSA agreement allows the Company to increase the rates of pay to add a differential at any time (the contractual pay rates are the minimum). The purpose of these letters is because the Company has had trouble recruiting qualified candidates at the locations and contracts referenced. The proposed rate change for new hires is for a location position differential that would begin at $2 per hour and drop by $.20 at each step increase through the ninth step.
