September 15, 2008Quarterly RES Meeting
The quarterly meeting for reservations was held in BOI on September 15. In attendance were Chief Stewards Heather Stull-BOIRR, Jill Clark-PHXRR, Dan Suafoa-SEARR, General Chair Jackie Fay, and stewards from all three offices. Furloughs, Early-Out Program, vacation bidding and part-time hours were just a few items discussed at this meeting. The Reed group was discussed in great length as to the procedures, and the bid question that we have been waiting for is "Why can't we email them?" We are waiting for a response from the disabilities department at Alaska Airlines. We will forward whatever information is provided to us. Our next meeting will be after the New Year.
September 2008 Quarterly Accounting Meeting
In attendance were Chief Stewawrad Celeste Graham Klima, General Chair Jackie Fay, and Steward Leslie Harr. Agenda items included furloughs, Early-Out Program and accounting agents working outside the contract. Our next meeting is scheduled for December 16. If there are items you would like brought up, please contact Leslie Harr/SEA. Please forward personal emails to your stewards or at the time of vacation bidding. These emails will not be provided to the Company.
Accounting Specialist Letter of Agreement
In years past, these Accounting Specialists were IAM positions taken away with new technology at OASYS. District 143 has always recognized this work as IAM work, and the Company has agreed to reinstate Accounting Specialists in the Customer Service-Airports OASYS department. If you have any questions, please contact General Chair Jackie Fay.
COPS field trip policy
The Company has initiated a field trip policy for our COPS members. This means that working opportunities out of your bid location will be awarded/assigned via the Bid Desk.
Bethel
Temporary position language has been agreed to and the 89-day and 1-year assignment letter of agreements have been signed. As housing and per diem is being provided for in BET for the temporary workers, the Arctic differential will not be applied.

Letters of Agreement
Article 19.A. of the COPS agreement and Article 23.A. of the RSSA agreement allows the Company to increase the rates of pay to add a differential at any time (the contractual pay rates are the minimum). The purpose of these letters is because the Company has had trouble recruiting qualified candidates at the locations and contracts referenced. The proposed rate change for new hires is for a location position differential that would begin at $2 per hour and drop by $.20 at each step increase through the ninth step.
